In 2018, the State Mental Hygiene Agencies sent out a comprehensive survey on the Local Services Planning process and met with a workgroup consisting of LGU and State Agency reps. The overall survey results and workgroup discussion indicated that most LGUs are at least “ok” with the current forms and process and highly value the consistency of using the same forms year-after-year.
As a result of these discussions, a few substantive changes were made to the LSP forms, including:
• Adding additional text boxes to the Overall Needs Assessment;
• Including more categories in the Goals Based on Local Needs, including an additional “other” category;
• Allowing all agencies to be selected for most Goals Based on Local Needs; and
• Eliminating the Goals Based on State Priorities section.
Given the extensive work done last year and the need to complete CPS changes in a timely manner, we have determined that it does not make sense to hold a workgroup meeting this year. However, the State agencies would still love to hear your feedback/suggestions regarding the LSP process. Please send any suggestions or comments about the 2021 LSP process to
with the subject line “2021 Planning Feedback” and we will discuss the ideas received.
