SPECIAL EDITION
MARCH/APRIL 2021
Short on time? Here's a quick summary: We're launching a new platform, which will give you direct access to your certification profile and status. We will have a two-week system maintenance window, April 17 through May 2, 2021, so that we can efficiently transfer all records to the new platform.
The Brain Injury Association of America is pleased to announce that its Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists (ACBIS) program is upgrading to a new electronic platform!

Among its many benefits, the new platform features an individual portal that provides:
  • Access to real-time updates on new applications and renewal status
  • Ability to update profile information anytime
  • Access to ongoing certificates and the ability to download them as earned
  • Automated exam proctoring

As the transition progresses over the next few weeks, we will provide step-by-step guides to help you adjust to the new features and processes. In the meantime, here is how the transition may affect you:
  • New applicants: During the system maintenance window (April 17 to May 2, 2021), you will not be able to submit a new application. Please submit your complete application including your resume, employment verification, and payment by April 16 or hold the application until May 3.
  • Applicants with incomplete applications: If you have not submitted your complete application including your resume, employment verification, and payment by April 16, your data may not be transferred and you may be required to resubmit your application in the new system. If you have made a payment, it will apply to your new application.
  • Certificants who are ready to renew: During the system maintenance window (April 17 to May 2, 2021), you will not be able to submit your renewal application. If your expiration falls within this time frame, please submit your renewal application by April 16 or hold the application until May 3. Your grace period will be extended accordingly. Note: If you have submitted your renewal application but have not made your payment by April 16, your data may not be transferred and you may be required to resubmit your application in the new system.
  • Applicants ready to take the test: Any exams scheduled to be taken before May 1 will not be affected. If your exam is scheduled in May or later, you will be able to use our new, user-friendly platform for testing and proctoring.

We are very excited to share this news with you! This is a big achievement for our program, and this launch wouldn't be possible without your support and dedication to the field of brain injury.
