In Defense of California
with Rev. Julia Hamilton
They say all ministry, like politics, is local. So let’s get local! California has become the “liberal boogeyman” for many in the nation. In times of crisis, it is disheartening to hear the vitriol aimed in our direction. Yet in these times of increasing climate disaster, it’s important not just to mourn the losses, but also to honor and celebrate what we love about where we live.

You are invited to the Alliance on Friday, February 7th at 2:00pm in Parish Hall. The Alliance Directors are hosting a reception honoring the memory of Claire Chytilo who was our most devoted board member for the past decade. Claire believed in the value of our Alliance community for its comradery and its educational and charitable activities. We will provide the snacks, so no need to bring your own offering of goodies. We will share memories and ideas for carrying on the spirit of Claire. All are invited whether you are a member or just curious about what Alliance could mean in your life.

Thank you for continuing to make our thin film plastics collection a success!
Please be aware that the bin will not be available in the courtyard or in Parish Hall if it is raining. Please wait until the next non-rainy Sunday to bring your plastic.
Please remember:
- Only soft plastics that stretch, not hard ones that crinkle and break, are acceptable.
- Only clean plastics are acceptable… no food inside, no smelly residues, etc
- Bread, tortilla, bagel, muffin bags, etc should be turned inside out and the crumbs shaken free to discourage rats and mold.
- Paper labels should be removed from plastic mailing bags.
Help us grow this program!
If you can gather thin film plastics from a friend, neighbor or family member and add them to the ones you deposit in our bin, we can expand our impact.

February Outreach Offering
PFLAG Santa Barbara
Its mission is to create a caring, just, and affirming world for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. For more than 50 years nationwide, PFLAG has been providing peer-to-peer support, publications, toolkits, and other resources to make sure that the family members of people who are LGBTQ+ get the support they need in the way that best serves their needs. This allows families to then further support, affirm, and advocate on behalf of their LGBTQ+ loved ones. Please give as generously as you can.
