Our DCO Tech, Makers By Design, and Product Design Incubator NSF Grants take center stage

NOVA Graduate Spotlight - Hispanic Heritage

Alec Vaca is a NOVA graduate who received an A.A.S. in Automotive from NOVA and later pursued a degree in HVAC before switching to an A.A.S. in Engineering Technology. He interned for Micron and worked there for 3 years. Afterward he interned for Digital Realty and is now employed full-time as an IT Manager. We caught up with him at the end of Hispanic Heritage month to ask about his experiences getting to where he is now and how NOVA helped him achieve his goals...

CLRI Launches, More Sessions Coming In Spring 

Great group, great goals! The Career and Leadership Readiness Institute (CLRI) kicked-off at the Regional Center for Workforce Education and Training at NOVA Woodbridge on October 13th. Fall CLRI sessions are underway throughout October and November to equip NOVA students with career readiness and priority consideration for paid internships with industry partners. 


CLRI students are trained how to interview, create a resume that stands out, network effectively, manage interpersonal skills in a diverse workplace and more! For NOVA IET students, the CLRI is a vital component in learning soft skills to complement technical skills. 


New CLRI Spring sessions will be available to sign up for in Jan 2023.

Friday Night Robotics Is Back!

It's that time of year - Fall is in the air and robotics is in the Fab Lab!

VRC teams will start meeting on November 11 and VEX IQ on November 18. Moving forward the first and third Fridays of the month will be for VEX IQ teams and the second and fourth Fridays will be for VRC teams.


There is a one time fee of $10, which will give you access to attend all future scheduled Friday Nights for the platform you are using. Friday Night Robotics is for established teams to scrimmage, build, and program their robots (it is not intended as an introduction to robotics).

NOVA Makers is open to High School students, as well as NOVA students, faculty, and staff. When you become a Maker you can become machine certified on the

3D printer, laser cutter, large printer, UV printer, and vacuum former. Once certified you are free to use those machines during our open lab hours for personal projects!
