Surviving Sweets Season!! For you and your family!
Here are some easy tips to help you stay out of the candy bowl this Halloween!
Trade it in. Have left over candy and don’t know what to do with it? Freeze some so your kids can have a treat once in a while.
Switch Witch: Have them trade in the rest for spending money! Then either throw it out or donate it. This way you get the candy temptation out of sight and out of mind!
Be mindful. Dedicate a day where you can have that special treat and savor the moment. It is easy to eat candy mindlessly and not fully enjoy it, so by doing this you only need one piece to satisfy that sweet tooth. Don’t plan to do this often, but occasionally it is okay to indulge.
Serve a Balanced Meal Before. If your child goes trick or treating with a full belly from a balanced meal that has some protein, healthy fats, and fiber they are less likely to overindulge on Halloween candy.
This may still happen and sometimes it is okay to let children learn their food limits and how too much of anything can feel not so great. But going into Halloween with healthy meal before hand will help keep their blood sugar more even and reduce that desire to overindulge on Halloween sweets.
