Goleta Valley Center

Santa Barbara Center

Teen Center

In celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day, girls attended the UCSB Lady Gauchos Women’s Basketball Game on February 15th. Girls from the Santa Barbara, Goleta, and Teen Centers came together to cheer on the Lady Gauchos, and were thrilled with a surprise visit from former Gaucho basketball star and Girls Inc. facilitator Sweets Underwood. Thank you Lady Gauchos!

To commemorate National Engineers Week and Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, the Goleta Valley Center welcomed volunteers from Lockheed Martin who shared various technologies with the girls, including infrared cameras and clean suits. Girls experimented with the infrared cameras by cooling and heating objects and watching how the image on the screen changed.

Thank you Lockheed Martin for supporting girls and women in #STEM!
In our Emerging Leaders Club , girls at the Santa Barbara Center learned about philanthropy, entrepreneurship, and fashion design this quarter. Combining these interests, girls chose a service project to help animals in the community. They bought supplies, designed and sold bracelets, and donated all proceeds to the animal shelter.

The girls went on a follow-up field trip to the shelter so they could see first hand the animals helped through their efforts.

Challenge Grant for Critical Needs Adds 4 New Vans to
Girls Inc. Fleet

Thanks to a 2017-2018 Challenge Grant to help us meet our critical needs, we were able to service some of our vans and purchase 4 new vans with the generous help of Bunnin Automotive Group !

These vans make daily school pick-ups and drop-offs at our centers, and take girls to off-site classes each week like #CurieosityProject and surfing. The vans are arriving just in time for CAMP IGNITE summer field trips!

Thank you to our supporters who helped us meet our $75,000 match in 2017, and who are helping us on our way toward meeting our $75,000 match goal in 2018.
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Sexual harassment and violence can lead to ongoing physical, mental, and economic consequences and can adversely affect the ability of girls to stay in school and hold down jobs, further limiting their opportunities.

Girls Inc. takes a holistic approach to combating sexual violence, harassment and bullying by raising awareness about girls’ rights and schools’ obligations and advocating for policies that promote safe learning environments and address the root causes of sexual violence.

"Girls Club Here Soon"

In 1964, $225,000 was raised to purchase land and build the first Girls Club facility in Santa Barbara at 531 E. Ortega Street. Today, more than 100 girls pass through the doors each day for after-school and summer programs.

In 1966, the Girls Club of Goleta was founded and began offering programs to girls in Goleta.
