New CEO Jen Faust Celebrates National Mentoring Month

This month we are thrilled to celebrate National Mentoring Month with a special blog post written by our new CEO Jen Faust. At Girls Inc., we understand that positive mentorship from our staff and volunteers is a critical factor in helping girls achieve their goals. Girls who have these long-lasting, trusting relationships are more likely than their peers to have positive relationships with adults and see them as allies.

Hear from Jen why the value of mentoring relationships is especially important now for our teens' growth and development as they explore education and career paths through our new virtual Teen Mentorship Program.

TK - 6th GRADE:

To kick off our STEM month, our youth learned about Florence Bascom, the first female geologist in America! Using pudding (bottom layer), Oreos (top layer), and gummy worms, the youth created layers of soil that they were able to enjoy afterwards!

TEEN CENTER:

The Teen Center finally has a new kitchen for our teens to use! We are so thankful to the 10 donors who helped us fund this project over the summer. Our teens can't wait to learn about proper nutrition through hands on learning and get creative with their own recipes.
