#805 Strong Shows Up On and Off the Mat
January's debris flow event and the subsequent closure of the 101 impacted many Girls Inc. gymnasts and their families; and several gymnasts were unable to attend their scheduled competitions in Southern California. One happy ending: Amber, who lives in Ojai, was able to attend her first Level 7 competition in Van Nuys on January 13th, with the support of Coach Izzy, who commuted around Santa Barbara and the closed freeway to be there to support Amber.

Thank you to Izzy and all of the gymnastics coaches for their dedcation and commitment to our athletes and to helping them pogress as competitive gymnasts.

Amber was also able to train at Coach Patty's School of Gymnastics during the freeway closure. And Girls Inc. hosted another local gymnast who typically trains in Newbury Park and was unable to commute to her home gym.

Honoring 60 Years in Santa Barbara: The 1950's
