LTG Richard Trefry, (Ret.)

"General Trefry was a legend in the U.S. Army. Born in 1924, he served in World War II as an enlisted Soldier and, after graduating from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, served as a Field Artillery officer in Germany and Vietnam, where he commanded an artillery battalion. He led the Joint U.S. Military Advisory Group in Laos and was later the Defense Attaché to that country.

The Lieutenant General served in numerous positions on the Army Staff and as the Inspector General of the Army for six years. After retiring in 1983, General Trefry served as the Director of the White House Military Office and as the Military Assistant to President George H.W. Bush. In 1995, he founded the Army Force Management School. General Trefry was an expert on the Army as a profession and on the Army’s leadership, management, and budget systems. In 2009, the Army created and named a Lifetime of Service Award in honor of General Trefry; he was the inaugural recipient."(Quote: The Bugle)

Americans in Wartime thanks LTG Trefry for his service to the museum, but most of all to our country. He was such an asset to the Army and certainly left behind a legacy.

...at the Museum Site

Over the past 24 months our new site located on Interstate 95 in Dale City, VA, has undergone a huge transformation. With the help of the Hylton Group, headed by Conrad Hylton and the Cecil and Irene Hylton Foundation, we have been able to clear over 45 acres of the 70 acre project. We have brought in over 400,000 cubic yards of fill dirt and placed 289 60” water pipes and man holes throughout the site. Over the next couple of months there will be over 4000 feet of retaining walls installed as well as a bridge that will hold the weight of our tanks (125,000 lbs.).

Recently, Board Member, Dun Scott, visited the site with our CEO along with Ed Umbrell from Dewberry, and Adam Ricard, site supervisor to see the progress. Dun was overwhelmed and excited about the progress being made and the museum coming together!
