In Loving Memory Of…

Sara Ann Chapman


February 4, 1943 – April 20, 2025

On April 20, 2025, Sara Ann Chapman passed away peacefully at home in Katy, Texas. She was born in Mt. Pleasant, Texas on February 4, 1943. Sara lived a long and active life until her passing.


Sara was a devoted art educator and inspired students, mentored fellow educators, and played a vital role promoting visual arts education across Texas and around the world. Sara was the current Executive Director and member of Texas Art Education Association (TAEA), recognized by TAEA as a Distinguished Fellow since 1998, pivotal in creation of Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE), a Cadre Member and State Presenter For CEDFA, and a NAEA Distinguished Fellow. Sara Chapman certainly has left a rich legacy in the hearts and memories of people from all walks of life around the world.


Sara was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Mary Lou Armour and her daughter Christina “Tina” Rich. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her daughter Kim Yerrow and son-in-law Tim Yerrow; her grandchildren Jessica Loving (Shane), Kasey Rich, Ryan, and Michael Yerrow; great granddaughter Ryver Scheiffele, and her brother Raymond Armour (Pat) as well many loving family and friends.


Sara will be remembered for her positive attitude, helpful nature, and her true Love of ART. She was passionate about introducing art to everyone and tapping into the creative potential of others, no matter their age. Sara left this world a better place by helping others and not asking anything in return.
