It is with a deep sorrow that the community of
St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church
announces the passing of
KAREN BEER
age 66, who passed away on September 3, 2020.
On this sad occasion, the Pastor, Board of Trustees, and all the auxiliary bodies of St. Sarkis Church, extend their heartfelt sympathy to Karen's family members.

Karen Jeanette Beer, passed away on September 3rd 2020, following a courageous and valiant four-year battle with cancer. She was born on May 10th, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan to James and Jeanette Stepanian.

Karen grew up in a loving family with her older sister Nancy, younger brother Bobby and younger sister Kathy in Bloomfield Hills. She also shared her life growing up surrounded by many aunts, uncles and cousins. As a child, Karen loved playing outside and had an affinity for rescuing and caring for all types of animals. Karen’s love for animals grew and she even had a beloved horse, Abby, that was her pride and joy. She would talk fondly of riding her horse from the stables to Franklin Cider Mill in the fall.

Karen graduated from Groves High School in Beverly Hills. Shortly after graduation Karen married her one and only love; John Beer, who grew up down the street from her. Karen and John’s pride and joy were their three boys; Alex, Adam and Andy. They loved their sons with all their hearts. Karen said that her purpose in life was to be a mom and she was a fantastic one. They also loved having their West Bloomfield home as the center of frequent family gatherings where laughter and joy could be heard from the back porch and pool echoing down the street. Karen was happiest with her family around her laughing and enjoying time together.

Sadly, John passed away in 2008 leaving Karen a young widow. Karen rose to the challenge and continued her successful and beloved career as a Dental Assistant. Karen beamed with pride to see her three boys each marry supportive and loving wives (Danielle, Kari and Jen). Then she was blessed to see the birth of her two grandchildren; Declan and Charlotte. Karen was known to them has their “Noni” and she loved every moment of being a grandmother. In her spare time, Karen loved visiting family and spending time outside in her gardens; she truly had a green thumb.

Karen was kind, loving and a compassionate ray of sunshine to all that she knew and met. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Her legacy will continue to live through her family and most vividly through her three boys.
