In Memoriam - Danton Robert Thompson

Danton, was born in Phoenix in 1953. He attended South Mountain High School and after graduation, attended cosmetology school and became a hairdresser.

In the mid-1970s Danton, along with his partner Richard Bremer opened Richard Danton Hair Salon located in the Scottsdale Civic Center Park. Its claim to fame is that it was at the top of the spiral staircase and it became the premier salon in the Scottsdale area.

An Interesting Story About Danton's Life

A client of his came to him for a hairstyle before going to a Stevie Nicks concert. Danton was known for his braids and he gave her an amazing one, so amazing that Stevie Nicks noticed it and sent someone out to ask about it. Thus began Danton's relationship with Ms. Nicks. He is credited with the look on her 1981 Bella Donna Album. Beyond that, they had years of friendship and working with each other.

Our sincere condolences go to Danton's family and friends.

Board Meeting

With our HOA annual meeting coming up in

mid-February, the board is busy with a variety of tasks. To finalize the agenda's content and plan the information distribution, the board will meet this coming Monday, December 16th @ 6:00 p.m., at the ramada. Homeowners are welcomed to attend.

Thanks Goes To...

We may not always see it, but behind the scenes, VM III residents are generously contributing their time and energy to keep our community running efficiently and economically. We would like to offer our thanks to the following residents for their contributions to our community.

It was easy to forget what was happening in the hood. That is, until we got our sandwich boards. Now there's no excuse to forget a cocktail with neighbors on a Finally Friday evening, or missing the discussion at our monthly board meeting.

Thanks goes to Jim & Lynn Helferich for suggesting these notice boards, and their diligence in keeping them posted.

Among the challenges faced by VM III's board, is the goal of providing a safe environment in our community. Hazards come in many forms. One which has concerned the board is the slipperiness created by wet floors.

Although nothing can be guaranteed 100%, things can be made better. Thanks to a suggestion from Brian Millea, and the labor of Gus Meyers, the hall and bathroom floors at the cabana have been treated with a surface to reduce slipperiness.

While caution is still advised, we are appreciative of the measures taken.

Speaking of safety, our Neighborhood Watch volunteers are there for us in our time of need.

When emergencies happen, we may need a family member or friend notified. To assist in that effort, the board maintains an Emergency Contact file. That information is securely held by VM III board members, as well as our Neighborhood Watch Block Captains and the group's chairperson Elizabeth Rehling.

Hopefully, this information won't be needed, but if it is, please contact one of these volunteers.
