It is a very sad week here at Fleet Feet as we let our Fleet Feet family know that on Monday, March 21st Kelly Miller Lanzafame lost her year long battle with cancer.

She passed away at home with her husband, Tony, their three children and her mother by her side.

Kelly was an absolute rockstar. After being diagnosed last May she was committed to staying working with us to keep as much normalcy as possible as she received her treatments.

While things appeared to be going in the right direction, last month she had to leave the office abruptly and that night had emergency surgery for a complication. As late as 2 weeks ago she was feeling confident that she would be back with us shortly but it wasn't to be and she declined rapidly over the last week.

Barb, our GM, was able to visit with her Monday for a short time and let her know how much she meant to all of us, she passed shortly after.

Kelly started with us 8 years ago, first as a part time fitter, then in a coaching role and for the last 5+ as our inventory manager and buyer. There is no role she couldn’t master. She headed up all of our footwear and accessory buying, handled transfers between 2, then 3 and then 4 stores and oversaw so many of our special projects including NYC Marathon (which she ran after working all week at the expo), ROC Holiday Village and during Covid our donation and distribution of 1000 pairs of Karhu shoes to local nurses, the same nurses that 1 year later she would see wearing those shoes as she received her chemo treatments.

She is one of the very few that can handle Boots coming out of his office with an idea and then get behind it 100% and have it planned out in a couple of hours. That’s no easy task and she always succeeded.

She was a Veteran of the US Coast Guard, finished multiple marathons, loved the Foo Fighters and Dave Mathews Band and has raised 3 kids with her husband Tony who she married 20 years ago.

She is going to be missed by all that ever met her.
