Dear Faculty, Staff, Residents, and Students:

Dr Ray Kennedy

It is with great sadness that we share with you the news that Raymond E. Kennedy, MD, chief resident in the Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy, passed away last week while attending a medical conference in California.

Born in Montvale, N.J., Dr. Kennedy lived in New Jersey until the age of 14, when he moved with his family to Wisconsin. An undergraduate alumnus of the University of Wisconsin, he earned his medical degree from the Northeast Ohio Medical University. After a one-year anesthesiology residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and general surgery residency training at Hackensack University Medical Center, Dr. Kennedy joined the integrated vascular surgery residency program at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, during which time he met his wife, Lindsey (Setaro). They married last September.

Known not only for his surgical skills and clinical acumen, but also for his kindness, infectious laughter, and caring for others, Dr. Kennedy was a pleasure to work with, and he will be sorely missed. It is notable that, as an organ donor, he was able to save lives as part of his final legacy.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his parents, Raymond Kennedy Sr. and Margaret (Peggy) Kennedy; sister Kate Kennedy and her husband Joe Geraci; sister Susan Kennedy and partner Whit Anderson; niece Nora Geraci and nephew Liam Geraci; father- and mother-in-law Bernard and Monica Setaro; sister-in-law Carly Manginelli and husband Anthony; and countless family, friends and colleagues.

Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 2 - 6 p.m., at Rezem Funeral Home in East Brunswick. Additional information can be found online at: https://www.rezemfh.com/obituaries/Raymond-Kennedy-Jr?obId=28882537
