MISSION VIEJO CORE AREA VISION PLAN INCLUDES CULTURAL ARTS USES

For a number of years, City leaders have been considering ways to revitalize the core retail area adjacent to the Civic Center and Norman P. Murray Community Center and the Oso Creek Trail. Some of this was referenced in the City's 2016 Cultural Arts Master Plan prepared by Arts Orange County (Recommendation 6 - Next Steps 6a, page 47). Arts Orange County Receives Grant from Bank of America

Arts Orange County has once again been awarded a grant from Bank of America to support its Professional Development Program, which aims to inspire, elevate the knowledge, and improve the skills of arts organization volunteer and paid leadership and management in Orange County. The program also helps develop the next generation of art professionals and careers across the county. “Bank of America has generously supported Arts Orange County for many years,” said Richard Stein, ArtsOC president & CEO. “It has been particularly interested in strengthening the economic impact of arts and culture in our community by helping professional arts leaders improve their knowledge and gain new skills. As a result, Bank of America has consistently targeted its grant to support our year-round convenings and trainings. This has been especially critical during the COVID pandemic, when leaders needed to respond quickly and resourcefully. ArtsOC has convened more than 90 online sessions since April 2020 with this support. Sharing information about safe reopening protocols and the exchange of knowledge and experiences among peers in facilitated discussions proved critical to the operational and financial well-being of these organizations.”

Supervisor Wagner Visits Arts Orange County &

OC Music & Dance

Orange County Third District Supervisor Donald P. Wagner was given a tour of OC Music & Dance by its founder, arts patron Charlie Zhang, its COO Walter Yenkosky, and OCMD Board Member Jo Ellen Chatham recently.

He also visited the Arts Orange County offices, which are located in the building. ArtsOC President & CEO Rick Stein (also an OCMD Board Member) thanked Supervisor Wagner for the instrumental role he played in advancing ArtsOC's request that the County allocate a portion of its American Rescue Plan Act funding to provide relief to the beleaguered arts nonprofits and businesses in our community. The County made available $5 million, with each District receiving $1 million to manage their own distribution programs.
