In Memoriam:
Charles Del Monte
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Charles Del Monte, a founding member and first President of both NCPFC and NCAT and a longtime Board Director. Charles passed away Saturday.
Charles helped build these associations from the ground up and dedicated decades of service to the painting and finishing trades. He served on numerous trust funds, apprenticeship and safety committees, and negotiation teams, always representing the contractor voice, and bringing leadership, fairness, and integrity to the industry and union painting community.
His fellow Board Director Alan Bjerke shared the following tribute:
I had the privilege of calling Charles Del Monte my friend for 32 years.
During that time, we both led Union Painting Companies.
While I knew Charles was dealing with health issues, upon hearing of his passing, a tear ran down my face.
Charles had a positive impact upon everyone he met and everywhere he participated.
He provided leadership based on intelligence, respect and commitment.
He always led by example.
He always found a way to negotiate fairly!
I learned so much from spending time with Charles.
I was surprised that no memorial service is planned for Charles.
Then it hit me...
Charles life is his memorial.
He lived Honorably every day!
I never knew that Charles middle name is Duke.
How fitting.
To me, Charles is the King!
He was a great man and a great friend.
