It is with the heaviest of hearts that I share with you that our beloved St. Matt's member, Vae (Marsha Vae Goeken) passed on into the waiting arms of our loving God this morning, January 10, 2023. Vae had been facing a series of health challenges that past few weeks that overwhelmed her body. Vae died peacefully with dearest friends nearby, and comforted in knowing she was a beloved Child of God continuing her eternal life with God as a follower of Jesus Christ.

Vae leaves behind her dear mother Laverne Goeken, many cherished cousins and other family members living in South Dakota. And of course Vae is remembered by the many, many friends she made at St. Matt's and in the Deaf community in LA, especially through Deaf West theater and Vae's other acting initiatives.

A memorial service is being planned for friends in LA to be held at St. Matthew's, probably in early February. Details will be shared as soon as plans are made. A service for family will also be held in South Dakota.
