Remembering Mat Ehrhardt, P.E.

Yolo County was recently struck with the devastating loss of Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District (YSAQMD) Executive Director Mat Ehrhardt, P.E. Mr. Ehrhardt had served the Air Quality Management District with distinction for over 20 years, starting as an Associate Air Quality Engineer back in 1997 before being promoted to Supervising Air Quality Engineer in 2000, Deputy Air Pollution Control Officer in 2002 and finally Executive Director of YSAQMD in 2005.

While serving as Director, Mr. Ehrhardt was known for considering the needs of all stakeholders and his dedication has been praised by a number of colleagues, including YSAQMD Board Chair Ronald Kott, Supervisor Don Saylor, and Supervisor Provenza. His impact was also felt statewide as Mr. Ehrhardt served as California Air Pollution Control Officers Association President in 2009 and 2010.

Mr. Ehrhardt's passing came in late June following a traffic accident where he was struck by a motor vehicle while riding his bike in downtown Sacramento. The Board of Supervisors adjourned their public meeting on June 28th in his honor. You can click here to read YSAQMD's original statement (webpage link).
