We are sad to inform you that Michele Anderson, a longtime Board and Lifetime Member of the John M. Langston Bar Association, passed away on Monday afternoon, December 29, 2025, after a long battle with an illness. She was surrounded by family and loved ones at the time of her passing. She is survived by her husband of 37-years, Christopher Bobo, her two daughters, Ashley Bobo and Amanda Bobo, and many other members of her loving family.
Michele was a dedicated civil servant and worked as a Deputy City Attorney with the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office for 30 years. She was immensely passionate about her work and serving the community. In addition to Langston, she was a member of Black Women Lawyers of Los Angeles and the California Association of Black Lawyers. She served on the Executive Board of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and was a past Chair of its Criminal Justice Section. Additionally, she held leadership roles as a Master and Program Director of the Criminal Inns of Court, and was Chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Delegation to the Conference of California Bar Associations (CCBA). She served as Chair of the CCBA.
While she was deeply rooted in the needs of the greater Los Angeles community, her civic engagement extended to her beloved home in the city of Long Beach where she served as Vice Chair of the Long Beach Civilian Police Oversight Commission and was a member the Long Beach NAACP. Her commitment to justice and community empowerment endured through the end.
Condolences may be sent to the family home at 3930 Linden Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90807. If you are interested in attending Michele's Celebration of Life, please send an email to Ashley Bobo at ashleynbobo@gmail.com by 5:00 p.m. on January 14. Although the venue for the Celebration of Life does have a capacity limit, the family will endeavor to accommodate as many friends of Michele and Langston as it can.
