It is with a heavy heart and great sorrow that we write to let you know of the recent passing of our Senior Partner, Michael Phulwani, Esq. We are given to understand that Michael passed away on Saturday morning.

The Nachman Phulwani Zimovcak (NPZ) Law Group staff want everyone to know . . .

Michael Phulwani, Esq. was a friend, colleague and mentor to thousands. He was a personal mentor to the immigration lawyers and staff at NPZ. He taught us how to navigate the Indian culture and the travel in the subcontinent. He was one of the very first "high profile" US immigration law practitioners in the Indian Community in the U.S.

Michael certainly helped to make Bollywood what it is today (both in the US and throughout the world). Michael was best known for his generous academic contributions to the AILA Consular Practice Handbook regarding practice in India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Throughout his practice, Michael made distinguished academic contributions to various practice guides and provided articles and speaking engagements for professional organizations (GOPIO, FIA, AILA, ICLE, etc.) and the greater legal community.Michael will always be remembered as a true “icon” in the India Community.

Michael loved his family dearly and, over the years, we heard about the enjoyable times he spent with them. He was equally dedicated to his greater Indian family who he helped to fulfill their professional and personal lives in their quest to work and live in the U.S. Michael came to India from Pakistan (after the separation) and then he immigrated to the U.S. from India. Michael understood “from deep in his heart” the true plight of the immigrant in the US. Michael was a "gentleman" in the true sense of the word and he will be sorely missed by all.

May Michael’s memory be for a blessing.
