It is with great sadness, that I report the passing of Skål International Members d'Honneur Schuyler (Schuy) Lininger at the age of 95. 

Schuyler leaves a legacy of civic and community involvement in addition to his success as Resort Hotel owner and manager. He was known in the hospitality industry as the "Patron Grande".

Schuy was a founding member of Skål International Tucson April 14th, 1966 and it's 3rd President in 1968. He attended meetings until his passing including the holiday party this December. He rose through the ranks of Skål serving as Regional VP, President of Skål USA 1985-86 and North America Area Skål Committee 1986-87. Schuy attended 54 NASC and World Congresses. He stands out as one of the very few who shared the amicale long after leaving office.

Professionally Schuy owned and operated the Lodge on the Dessert in Tucson, AZ for 50 years, before donating the landmark to his alma mater, the University of Arizona. He was active in the hotel, resort and hospitality industry. One of his favorite organizations was the prestigious Resort Committee of the American Hotel & Lodging Assoc. He frequently attended those meetings. Schuy was a long time board member and past president of the So. Az. Ranch, Resort and Hotel Assoc. and the Arizona Hotel & Lodging Assoc. 

Schuy was active in the Rotary Club of Tucson joining in 1947 , serving as President in 1975-76. He served on the Tucson City Council and the Civil Service Commission and was chairman. He was active on many boards including the Salvation Army, Tucson Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, State Tourism Board to name a few.

Schuy served in the 1st Cavalry during WW II and the US Army Reserve. He was a life long season ticket holder to U of A Football games, served on the Advisory Board to College of Business and School of Theater, Film and TV. 

Among his many awards: Prestigious founders Award at the annual Man and Woman of the Year Luncheon; the Ambassador of Tourism Award from Arizona Governor Babbitt and recipient of a copper letter from Mayor Murphy for Outstanding Citizen of Tucson and Skål International Members d'Honneur.
