In Memory of Kenneth R. Skinger, PE, Esq., F.NSPE

MSPE fondly remembers our friend and colleague, Kenneth R. Skinger, PE, Esq., F.NSPE, who passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2023.

Ken’s distinguished engineering career included leadership roles with General Electric and Stone & Webster, Inc. before he founded his own engineering consulting firm, Scituate Consulting Inc.

Ken also generously shared his time and talent through active participation in MSPE/NSPE and IEEE PES. He demonstrated his unwavering dedication to protecting and promoting the PE license by advocating for professional standards and educational opportunities for engineers.

An NSPE/MSPE member for two decades, Ken served as MSPE President from 2009-2012 (including our state society’s 60th anniversary year in 2012) and actively participated as Director for several terms.

He also served on the National level as NSPE Northeast Region Director, and enjoyed opportunities to help present student scholarship awards to aspiring engineers, as well as recommend other dedicated volunteers for NSPE Distinguished Service Awards. He was nationally recognized as an NSPE Fellow - an honor he proudly earned.

Ken’s engaging personality, deep integrity, and inclusive nature enriched the lives of his colleagues and fellow MSPE/NSPE leaders and members. We are grateful for his enduring contributions to our Society and the engineering profession.
