Stanley Wayne Cravatt, 78, of Austin, Texas, husband of The Rev. Ann Graham who serves as a rostered leader in the Southwestern Texas Synod, passed away on January 12, 2026. He was a native Texan through and through, born in Austin on August 23, 1947, to Sidney Andrew Cravatt and Florine Miller Cravatt. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon.
Stan is survived by his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Ann Graham, and four children who are so close to his heart: Amy Graham-Fang (granddaughter, Elizabeth and great-granddaughter, Xaria); Thomas Graham-Fang and wife Jill, Andrew Cravatt and wife Ali Ditucci, and Kenneth Cravatt, as well as his service dog, Radar.
Stan graduated from Austin High School and attended Southwest Texas State University. Stan was a talented and respected cartographer (drawer of maps) for his whole career. He loved to read, especially Texas history. He was proud of taking both Andrew and Kenneth to the Alamo in San Antonio when they were less than two weeks old. He especially loved our family's West Texas home, a few miles west of Balmorhea Springs. He loved the annual Fourth of July parade in Ft. Davis. This Chisos Basin of Big Bend was another favorite. Stan loved to travel. Among his favorite places were: Arches National Park, Minnesota Boundary Waters, Holden Village in Washington State, Chihuahua City, Mexico, Santiago, Chile, Cambridge, England and Istanbul, Turkey.
Stan and Ann and Radar cherished their joint ministry at Faith Lutheran Church (ELCA) in McDade, TX, a church family that is definitely "small but mighty." Stan attended and sponsored many iACT (Interfaith Action of Central Texas, Austin, TX) events. Dialogue Institute Austin was another big part of Stan's life. Stan had so many friends that he considered family.
There will be a Celebration of Life at St. Martins Lutheran Church in Austin, on Saturday, February 28, at 3 pm. To honor Stan's memory, all participants are invited to wear something red — whether it be a shirt, dress, flower, stole or something else beautiful.
We remember Stan's family and friends in our prayers and trust that the promise of the Resurrection is true and sure.
