Let's Go! Do More 24 is Wed, May 18th
The annual 24-hour online fundraiser
|
|
When you support Ardmore through Do More 24 this year, you are saying, "LET'S GO!" to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Let’s go have fun and get active! Let’s go fuel the imagination! Let’s go build life skills! And, let's go prepare for the workplace!
Your donation will help ensure that the people who have chosen Ardmore for support can safely emerge from the isolation of the pandemic and get back into the community as active and engaged members. We are looking to stimulate interest in outings to the park, museums, ball games and live performances. Or, help people express their creativity and build independence through arts, sports and recreational activities. And, help those who are looking for employment discover and prepare for jobs where they can thrive!
Here's how you can DO MORE to make our LET'S GO! initiatives help more people:
-
Make a donation. Any amount—$24, $64, $124, $244, even $10—will make a difference in the life of someone we support. Donate though our Do More 24 page or directly through our PayPal page.
-
Ask two friends to make a donation to Ardmore via DM24. Your friends are likely to support a cause important to you, if you ask them directly. Forward an email (this one), make a call or send a text with Ardmore’s DM24 link.
-
Share on your social media Ardmore’s DM24 page or Facebook page. That’s an easy way to show your friends what you care about.
Donations are accepted all day Wednesday up until 11:59 pm. But you don’t have to wait. Click now to Do More.
Do More 24, powered by United Way of the National Capital Region, is the DMV’s largest online fundraiser

For Kevin Jamison, helping people is his super power. For over 9 years, he was Ardmore's front desk 'ambassador'--the receptionist who went above and beyond to make every person feel welcomed and respected. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, he was furloughed.
Over the last 18 months, Ardmore’s Employment Team has provided customized discovery and job development services to Kevin and others to stay connected, continue to build skills and explore new employment opportunities. As in-person services resumed last fall, Kevin met regularly with Ardmore Job Coach Irma Lawton and our job development staff to polish his skills, practice interviewing and apply for jobs
Success! In January, Kevin was hired by Prince George's County Public Schools as a 1:1 Dedicated Aid. A perfect match for a man who is dedicated to helping others and is eager to learn, grow and be an example to those around him.
Congratulations Kevin!
Kevin currently serves a member of Ardmore's Board of Directors and has received support services from Ardmore since 2010.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month
Mental Health Awareness Month has been observed in the U.S. since 1949. This is the perfect time to fight stigma, provide support, educate the public and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their families.
Self-care is critical care. Let’s learn how and take the time to take care of ourselves (and others). Please share your thoughts and resources on self-care and mental well-being for us to post. Email your comments to: community@ArdmoreEnterprises.org.

In April We Walked for Autism
April is set aside as World Autism Awareness Month--a time to promote acceptance, raise awareness and boost advocacy for people living with autism. On April 19th, our Diversity and Inclusion Committee organized two WALKS FOR AUTISM. More photos can be viewed on our Facebook page.

Meaningful Day Services: In-Person & Outstanding!
We are quickly transitioning back to in-person services where we can offer community-integrated experiences for the people we support. At Ardmore, we passionately advocate for and encourage people to grow and participate in the communities where they live. If you would like to learn more about our community-based meaningful day services, please contact Terraia Chase, Director of Meaningful Day and Employment Services.
Vacancy in Group Homes
Our Community Living Services support people in homes based on their individual preferences and needs, encouraging independence and personal success. We have openings in group homes in Bowie and Bethesda. Please contact Pamela Brown, Director of Outreach and Admissions, to learn more about these residential opportunities.
Annual Meeting Next Month
Ardmore’s 59th Annual Meeting is scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, June 15th. We will share highlights from the meeting in the next In Our Circle.
