What to Know About Visiting the Museum
We are delighted to invite you to visit Boston Children’s Museum! Every day the Museum offers families a range of fun, hands-on, and social activities that include access to all Museum exhibits including You, Me, We!, the New Balance Foundation Climb, Dinos in Space and Fantastic Forts exhibits, PlaySpace, Turtle Tank, and everyday hands-on activities involving science, art, music, and more.

Please note: The Museum is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday with two time slots, 9:00am–12:00pm and 1:30–4:30pm.

STEAM Family Workshop: Exploring Coding!
Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14
10:30-11:30am and 3:00-4:00pm
Explore coding using a platform Scratch Jr. to program a character.

This workshop is recommended for visitors ages 6+ and their grown-ups. Space is limited – please sign up in front of the STEAM Lab.

Music and Movement
Saturday, May 13
10:00-10:30am and 11:00-11:30am 
Join us for an interactive music program designed for children and their parents and caregivers! Sing songs, dance to music, and enjoy a story time led by trained Boston Music Project teaching artists.

Grown-ups are encouraged to take part in the activities with their children throughout the 30-minute class.

Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra Concert

Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra (BYSO) is one of the most prestigious, comprehensive, and remarkable youth orchestras in the nation. Each year, BYSO serves over 500 children, ages 4 through 18, from Greater Boston and throughout New England. Their students receive a transformative, classical music education that changes their lives. Their path forward is a pursuit of excellence rooted in self-confidence, courage, and leadership.

Petit Ensemble, BYSO’s youngest ensemble and conducted by Marta Zurad, is a string orchestra for players generally under the age of 10. Petit Ensemble members have successfully completed at least Suzuki Book Two (violin, viola, cello, and bass). The rich repertoire introduces students to a variety of musical styles.

Yokoso – welcome!

Visit Kyo-no-Machiya, an authentic two-story silk merchant’s home from Kyoto, Japan. Learn about Japanese family life, customs, ceremonies, art, architecture and seasonal events with this 100-year-old house.

Check out the special displays celebrating Tango-no-sekku (traditionally known as Boys’ Day), symbolized with carp kites, miniature samurai helmet, and more.

Enjoy "Victory Bouquets”, a display of artwork created by the students at Tohoku University of Art and Design.

At Home: Managing Behaviors That Challenge Adults: A Bright Horizons Webinar
Tantrums, hitting, and biting are very difficult behaviors to navigate as a parent or caregiver. Join Rachel Wagner, from the Devereux Center for Resilient Children, and Claire Goss from Bright Horizons, for a discussion on both preventative and in-the-moment strategies needed to work through these challenges.

At Home: DIY Mobiles
Parents and caregivers, keep kids engaged at home with this fun and easy arts and crafts project here! This instructable shows kids how to create their own DIY mobile. The best part is that cleanup is quick, and this fun craft requires only simple household materials to complete.
