In-Person Programs Are Returning to ASGC

We’re so excited to announce a return to in-person programming for a few social and support programs: Sing and Dance, Kids Exploring Fun, Teen Time, and Adult Support Group. At Autism Society Greater Cincinnati (ASGC), we recognize the need of individuals with autism to join together in socialization and community building. By bringing back in-person social groups and support sessions, we are hoping to further strengthen the relationships formed in the online setting among individuals with autism in Greater Cincinnati and beyond. ASGC will still offer online programs as part of our new program schedule, which is updated weekly on the ASGC Events Calendar.

Each in-person program will have an online registration form, which will collect contact information, emergency contact information, and dietary restrictions and allergies for each group attendee. The information collected online will only be used for limited program-related communications, and will be stored only in ASGC files. At each program’s check-in table, ASGC will need a signed liability form and photography form from each attendee or their parent or guardian.

Please make sure to register online for each in-person program, as program-specific emails with information on parking, group location, and cancellations must be communicated prior to each session. If you have signed up to attend an in-person program but can no longer attend, please reach out to connect@autismcincy.org to cancel your registration. If you or your child is feeling ill, please do not attend in-person programs. We will be monitoring the risk of COVID-19 in our community and canceling in-person programs as needed for the safety of our attendees and staff.

Sing and Dance (Ages 2-5)

In-Person: Saturday, October 8 – 10:30-11:30 a.m. – Linden Grove School – Register

Sing and Dance is a youth program focusing on engaging preschoolers in interactive play, song, and movement, open to kids with autism aged 2-5 (preschool to kindergarten). This group aims to encourage peer interactions and explore basic social skills, and gross and fine motor skills in a fun, playful environment.

Beginning in October, Sing and Dance will begin a once-per-month schedule with an in-person meeting on the second Saturday of the month.

The in-person meeting, an Activity Group, will take place at the Linden Grove School (4122 Myrtle Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45236) on the second Saturday of the month at 10:30-11:30 a.m. ET. Registration is required for each month’s session. Coffee will be available to parents, who are required to remain with their child for the duration of the program. Kids Exploring Fun (Ages 5-12)

In-Person: Saturday, October 8 – 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. – Linden Grove School – Register

Online: Saturday, October 22 – 9-10 a.m. – Zoom – Register

Kids Exploring Fun is a youth program for engagement, creativity, socialization, and fun, open to kids with autism aged 5-12 (kindergarten up to teenage).

Beginning in October, Kids Exploring Fun will begin a twice-per-month schedule, with an in-person meeting on the second Saturday of the month and an online meeting on the fourth Saturday of the month.

The in-person meeting, an Activity Group, will take place at the Linden Grove School (4122 Myrtle Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45236) on the second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. ET. Our kids will engage in various fun activities. The online meeting, a Social Group, will take place on Zoom on the fourth Saturday of the month at 9 a.m. ET. Registration is required for each session that your child will attend, which will make sure that you receive the appropriate emails with specific information on location, attendance, and expectations. For in-person sessions, coffee will be available to parents, who are encouraged to stay at the program for the first half-hour, and are required to stay for the duration of the program if their kid has high support needs. Teen Time (Ages 13-17)

In-Person: Friday, October 14 – 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Linden Grove School – Register

Online: All Other Fridays – 5:30-7 p.m. – Zoom – Sign Up

Teen Time is a social program for starting conversations, playing games, and having fun while building friendships among teenagers on the autism spectrum aged 13-17 (middle and high school up to adults).

Beginning in October, Teen Time will continue its every Friday schedule, with an in-person meeting on the second Friday of the month and online meetings on all other Fridays.

The in-person meeting will take place at the Linden Grove School (4122 Myrtle Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45236) on the second Friday of the month at 5:30-7:30 p.m. ET. Our teens will engage in various fun activities with staff. The online meetings will take place on Zoom on every other Friday of the month at 5:30-7 p.m. ET. Registration is required for ONLY in-person meetings, which will make sure you receive the appropriate emails with specific information on location, attendance, and expectations. For in-person sessions, pizza and water will be provided for teens. Parents are encouraged to stay at the program for the first half-hour, and are required to stay for the duration of the program if their kid has high support needs. Adult Support Group (Ages 18+)

Online: All Other Sundays – 6:30-8 p.m. – Zoom – Sign Up

Adult Support Group is a support group sharing success and concerns, giving and receiving support, and being part of a community that understands for adults with autism aged 18+.

Beginning in October, Adult Support Group will continue its every Sunday schedule, with in-person meetings on the second and fourth Sunday of the month and online meetings on all other Sundays.

The in-person meetings will take place at COhatch Kenwood (7875 Montgomery Rd, Suite 42, Cincinnati, OH 45236) on the second and fourth Sunday of the month at 6:30-8 p.m. ET. The online meetings will take place on Zoom on every other Sunday of the month at 6:30-8 p.m. ET. Registration is required for ONLY in-person meetings, which will make sure you receive the appropriate emails with specific information on location, attendance, and expectations. Information from the registration form will not be used in any other way besides communicating limited program-related information. For in-person sessions, pizza and water will be provided for adults in attendance. The first in-person Adult Support Group meeting is Sunday, October 9.
