Thanksgiving Boxes for Holy Cross Food Pantry
Our friends at Holy Cross Lutheran Church plan on distributing Thanksgiving bags/boxes at their Food Pantry on the evening of November 19. In 2019 a record number of 125 families received a box. With the effects of the global pandemic, the needs are greater this year so Holy Cross plans to distribute 150 boxes. Each family will get grocery items to prepare a Thanksgiving meal, most likely to include a five-pound bag of potatoes, cans of vegetables, a box of stuffing mix, a jar of gravy mix, rolls and most importantly, a frozen turkey. Each of the bags/boxes will cost approximately $20, so we we are asking that you consider helping a neighbor with a donation for a bag or even part of a bag. You can write a check for your donation (with Thanksgiving box in the memo line) and put it in the offering plate or mail to the church office. You may also use the Giving + app and donate in the special appeal section. The deadline to contribute is November 10th. If you are interested in helping distribute the bags/boxes on the evening of November 19 from 4:45pm to 7:00pm, please contact Kathy Christiansen at sharonkc@cox.net or 402-657-4601.
REVERSE Trunk of Treat!

REVERSE Trunk or Treat - Sunday, Oct. 18th at 4pm. Families with children/grandchildren are encouraged to decorate their trunks and dress up in their Halloween costumes. Please sign up at Lord of Love or contact Miss Heather at heather@lord-of-love.org, if you are bringing children or grandchildren to receive treats at your trunk (decorating is optional). There will be a prize for the best decorated trunk.

NOTE: Due to COVID this is not a community event like last year but smaller for the congregational children & grandchildren. If we are in need of a rain date, we will be looking at Sunday, Oct. 25th, with the same time and plan.

Adults from the congregation are encouraged to come between 4pm-5pm to vote on best trunk, and leave treats for each participating child. If you plan on bringing treats, participate, or contribute in any way, please email Heather Christensen, heather@lord-of-love.org to let us know, so we can know how many to plan for and let you know how many kids to have goodies for.
