Brothers and sisters in Christ, our "fast" from in-person worship due to the corona-virus pandemic is about to come to an end! With Illinois entering Phase 4 of the "Restore Illinois" plan, St. John's will once again be having in-person worship in our sanctuary.
We want you to be as fully informed as possible about what to expect. Here are the details about your in-person worship experience:
-St. John's asks you to be diligent in health measures to ensure a safer worship environment. If you do not feel well, please stay home, take care of yourself and worship with everyone online. Consider taking your temperature before leaving for St. John's. St. John's has acquired forehead thermometers that could be utilized before each service.
-Each worship service will be limited to 50 worshipers total, including those serving that weekend.
-To ensure we do not go over the 50 person total, online registration is available in the above link to let St. John's know which worship service you will attend: The 505 Contemporary Worship on Saturday at 5:05 PM or Traditional Worship on Sunday at 8:00 or 10:45 AM.
-We will be diligent about ensuring your safety through social distancing protocols. Face masks will be required. Family units will be spaced apart from others to ensure social distancing. There will be thorough disinfection before, between and after services, as needed. We ask that you make use of hand sanitizer stations if you have not brought your own.
-Entry will be at Door "A" only before the service and exit will be through the main doors only after the service.
-Ushers will be escorting each family unit from Door A to their seats before the service starts. For this to go smoothly, please arrive early enough to allow adequate time for the ushers to escort your family unit to your seats.
-After the service, ushers will escort each family unit out of the sanctuary one at a time, starting with back rows and working their way up to the front.
-The doors to the school will be locked, with the Narthex restroom available.
-The length of each service will be shortened somewhat, while still providing worshipers with adequate time to receive the Lord's Word and respond in prayer and praise. We will be speaking responses and singing with masks on, but shortening the length of each. When speaking, both pastors will not be wearing masks, but will maintain social distancing the entire time they are speaking and will resume mask wearing when not speaking.
-Worship Services will continue to be live-streamed on our YouTube page, so if you are not quite ready to attend in-person worship, you can still participate in worship online.
We are striving to provide a worship experience for you that focuses on Jesus and His gifts for us, while at the same time taking every precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among those gathered. We thank you for your patience and generosity during this season of St. John's! We look forward to seeing you soon at the corner of 47th and Brainard!
God's peace in our Lord and Savior, Jesus,
Pastor Ben Roberts, Senior Pastor
Pastor Mark Stapleton, Associate Pastor
Cary Preston, Head Elder
