Reverend John McNaughton
November 19, 1929 - February 28, 2022
Reverend John MacNaughton was a pioneer of recovery and its teachings of love and understanding in San Antonio. Reverend MacNaughton learned of the success of the program throughout Texas and knew the need in his hometown. In 1977, he opened the doors of Christ Episcopal Church to the Palmer Drug Abuse Program (PDAP) to serve those suffering with drugs and alcohol. It is with heavy hearts but humble gratitude that we share his passing on Monday, February, 28, 2022. Please visit the memorial page to learn more about Reverend MacNaughton's life and legacy and sign the guest book:

SA Mission Trail Rotary Club Awards Rise Recovery Sober Prom
A big thank you to our friends and supporters at San Antonio Mission Trail Rotary Club and their beautiful awards ceremony! We are so grateful for their financial support of this year's Rise Recovery Sober Prom! Pictured is Kristin Beno, Development Director Extraordinaire and Dawnya Janousek, Recovery Unicorn (aka Young Adult Recovery Support Peer Specialist). You can support recovery in so many ways like monthly giving through autopay, in-kind gifts and more!

Rise Inspire Academy Students Shine
Through Art & Nature
Rise Inspire Academy students surely did impress during February's Guest Artist Series! They took some inspiration from one of the greats by creating their own interpretation of The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. Our students also got their hands dirty and did some spring planting. They will be watching their hard work grow for a Farm-to-Table harvesting experience before the end of the school year. A big thank you to guest artist Hollie Emrie!

Speaking of spring planting, Rise Recovery is thrilled to be a recipient of the GroMoreGood Grassroots Grant from KidsGardening.org and ScottsMiracle-Gro! This summer our Rise Inspire Academy students will build and maintain their very own garden at our new Rise Recovery Charlie Naylor Campus!
Is Trauma Inherited?
In the past ten years, scientific studies have shown genetic links between parents who were traumatized and their children.

"...children of veterans and women who were pregnant during 9/11 were significantly more likely to have gene alteration, which made them more likely to suffer from traumatic symptoms. In the words of Jeremiah, the prophet, “the fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.”'

A Bird's Eye View of the Charlie Naylor Campus
This is drone footage of the soon to be open Rise Recovery Charlie Naylor Campus! You can see the sport court to the left and in the middle of the Harvey Najim Youth Center and the Mays Young Adult & Family Center will be a fun outdoor amphitheater. We cannot wait to open our doors to so many more youth and families who are seeking hope and love through recovery! Stay tuned for grand opening details!
Youth Leadership Students Celebrate Success
Our Youth Leadership students from Harlandale ISD just celebrated their completion of the program! Now they will share the information they have learned with their peers, educating other youth on mental health and substance use prevention. Goal: BREAK THE STIGMA! Here is how we are doing just that...

This year was full of beautiful music, from our karaoke staff super stars to the Grammy-nominated string quartet, Aizuri! Thank you to those who attended. If you missed it, be sure to join us next year!
