My dear parishioners,
I am finally here, and my heart is filled with gratitude to God. I get to share in the blessings you have received for being members of this beautiful parish family and gorgeous Basilica Church. I am grateful to the beloved Father John Howren and Monsignor Al Jowdy for having cared for you over the years and for setting everything up for me to continue their work. I also thank Archbishop Hartmayer for sending me here to be your Pastor. In a short time, I have already experienced the loving spirit and generous service of the Parish's staff and volunteers. I am really looking forward to being part of this family, worshipping God and serving others together with you.
We will have the opportunity to get to know one another better over time, but I would like to begin by sharing a little about myself.
I was born and raised in Vietnam, where the Franciscan priests and sisters at my home parish first inspired my vocation to religious life. In 1993, I immigrated to the United States.
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education and Theology from Seton Hall University and a Master of Arts degree in Applied Linguistics and Teaching English as a Second Language from Georgia State University. Before answering God's call to the priesthood, I taught and counseled young people in several schools throughout the Atlanta area. I also spent time studying with the Salesians of St. John Bosco before entering priestly formation for the Archdiocese of Atlanta at St. Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
I was ordained to the priesthood on June 2, 2012. My first assignments were as parochial vicar at St. Peter Chanel Parish in Roswell and St. Brigid Parish in Johns Creek. In 2018, I was appointed Director of Vocations for the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Since 2021, I have had the privilege of serving as pastor of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish in Jasper.
I look forward to getting to know you and walking together in faith. Please keep me in your prayers, as I will certainly keep you in mine.

Have you ever wondered what the Catholic Church teaches or considered becoming Catholic? The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a welcoming opportunity to explore the Catholic faith, ask questions, and learn more about the teachings and traditions of the Church.
Whether you are simply curious, considering becoming Catholic, or seeking to complete your sacraments, OCIA provides a supportive and informative journey of faith. Participants who choose to continue the process will be prepared to receive the sacraments at the Easter Vigil on March 27, 2027.

Registration for our 2026–2027 Faith Formation Program is now open for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12, including those preparing for the Sacraments.
Classes will be held Sundays from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., beginning Sunday, September 20.
Our Faith Formation Program includes Sacramental Preparation for parish children preparing to receive First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, as well as Confirmation Preparation for eligible youth. The Confirmation Mass is scheduled for Sunday, April 25, and First Holy Communion Masses will be celebrated on Sunday, May 2.
Important Confirmation Update: The Archdiocese is transitioning to sixth grade as the typical age for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. As part of this transition, students in Grades 8, 9, and 10 who are eligible will participate in Confirmation preparation during this program year.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who served as a docent during the FIFA World Cup, welcoming visitors and sharing the rich history, beauty, and faith of our parish.
During the tournament, 226 visitors toured our church.
- 226 guests visited our church during the tour times.
- U.S. guests represented states including Texas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Alabama, North Dakota, and Nebraska.
- Guests from outside of the US included: Cabo Verde, Vietnam, Puerto Rico, Tobago, Sarajevo, Czechia, Germany, Dem. Republic of Congo, Guatemala, Columbia, Ecuador, Nigeria, El Salvador, Brazil, Zimbabwe, Spain, Russia, Korea, Philippines, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Mexico, Guam, England, Trinidad, and Mexico.
- Guests came from six of the seven continents – with the exception of Antarctica.
- Notable guests included Fr. Pablo from the Vatican in Rome, Italy; St. Mary’s Youth Ministry from Sutton, Nebraska, and the Youth Ministry from Dawsonville, GA.
Your hospitality, generosity, and enthusiasm reflected the welcoming spirit of our parish and left a lasting impression on visitors from around the globe.

Mass Intentions

A mass intention is a specific request for a Mass to be celebrated for a particular person or purpose.
Common reasons for a mass intention include:
For the deceased: To pray for the repose of the soul of a loved one who has died, believing that these prayers can help them on their journey to heaven.
For the living: To pray for the healing of a sick person, to offer thanks, or for other personal needs and concerns.
For special occasions: To commemorate an event like a wedding anniversary, birthday, or other significant life moment.

Altar Flowers
Flowers may be ordered in memory or in honor of a loved one. The arrangement will be displayed at the altar from the Saturday Vigil Mass through the 5:00 pm Mass on Sunday. If no other events require special flower arrangements, the flowers will remain during the week. The intention for the flowers will be listed in the bulletin. Two arrangements are available each week at the cost of $100.00 each. (You may purchase one or both arrangements). Names will be listed in the bulletin.

Exposition of the Eucharist
Weekly Exposition of the Eucharist is offered on Tuesdays following the 12:10 p.m. Mass from 12:45- 3:00 p.m. in the Marist Chapel.
