SUMMER OF IMPACT Spotlight:

Larry Benbow and Dianne Casey

This summer Samaritan Ministry Associate Caseworker Dianne Casey has been seeing a lot less of Next Step program participant Larry Benbow than she used to.

But the reason for this is terrific news: Benbow has been busy at a new full-time job working as a prep cook and dishwasher for a great chef at an upscale bakery cafe just walking distance from his rooming house in Alexandria.

Volunteer Opportunites: We have Openings!

Whether you'd like to work directly with Samaritan's Next Step program participants or behind the scenes, we have a volunteer position for you!

Do you have a background in grantwriting? We have a new volunteer position that you could fill remotely from your own home! The volunteer grantwriter tasks include researching and recommending new foundation, corporate, and government grants; drafting letters of introduction, letters of inquiry, and grant proposals; and other grant-related assistance as needed by Deputy Director, Development, Jennifer Longmire-Wright, pictured at right with Deputy Director, Programs, Julio Da Silva, in front of Samaritan's Arlington office.

Additionally, we are currently seeking volunteers to welcome participants and assist with their intake as well as light office management at our U St. and Arlington offices. The openings are for 10 am to 2 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.

To learn more about these positions, please contact Partner Council and Volunteer Manager Sy Jones at sjones@samaritanministry.org.

SAVE THE DATE!

Samaritan's Gala 2025 will take place on November 8 from 3 to 6 pm at

St. Paul's Center, 201 Allison St NW, DC

Samaritan's Gala 2024 guests were so taken by the beauty of St. Paul's Center on the St. Paul's Rock Creek Church campus on an autumn afternoon last year that we're staging on encore on November 8, 2025 from 3 pm to 6 pm!

If you missed last year's festive gala — and the weather cooperates again — this will be your chance to experience the delicious food and cocktails from Mindy's Catering as a mild breeze and sunshine flows in through the venue's

french doors and live music wafts outside! We'll also offer our inspiring annual awards and multiple ways to support and celebrate Samaritan's work!
