Draft Strategic Plan review meetings for staff Oct. 2 & 3
EPS staff are invited to participate in a review process for the Draft Strategic Plan. Four review meetings are planned specifically for staff. The review, facilitated by a consultant, will include a presentation of the Draft Strategic Plan and a look back at the feedback provided by parents and staff at the beginning of the process. Feel free to stop in when you can, and leave when you need to:

  • Wednesday, Oct. 2, 7-8:15 a.m., EHS Cafeteria
  • Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2:30-4 p.m., Creek Valley, Cafeteria
  • Thursday, Oct. 3, 7-8:15 p.m., South View Auditorium

Latest Headlines
Three Edina High School students have received College Board recognition in the Hispanic Recognition Program.
Twenty students from Edina High School have been selected as commended students in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Monday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m., steel drum instrumentalists will perform in a joint concert that will feature more than 25 steel drums. The Rising Stars will share the stage with the Edina Concert Band and Concert Orchestra at Fick Auditorium.
Edina Public Schools is pleased to announce 19 Edina High School students have been named National Merit Semifinalists in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program.
School Board Update
Candidate Forum is Tuesday, Oct. 8
The Edina Parent Leadership Council will sponsor a School Board Candidate Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 9:30-11:30 a.m., ECC Room 349. In addition to opening and closing statements, candidates will answer questions presented by a moderator.

Absentee and early voting has begun
Opportunities to vote early for the School Board election began on Sept. 20. All absentee and early voting occurs at Edina City Hall. Visit this City web page for more information.
Next Board meeting: Monday, October 14
The meeting begins at 7 p.m., in ECC Room 349. A complete meeting agenda is posted three days prior to the meeting. Regular meetings of the School Board are live streamed on the district's YouTube channel. To watch, click on the YouTube icon at the bottom of every district website page, or find the link on the School Board meetings web page.

Q&A Sessions are held as requested. View more information about Q&A sessions and the form to submit questions. Questions must be submitted by 3 p.m. one week prior to each session. Sessions are held at 6:30 p.m., prior to a regular Board meeting.

Edina Education Fund hosts annual fundraiser to support EPS
The Edina Education Fund hosts its annual Cake-Off event on Friday, Oct. 4 at St. Patrick's Church in Edina. The Ed Fund's goal is to enhance opportunities for all EPS students by working in partnership with Edina educators to sponsor innovative projects. Cake-Off participants bid on decorated cakes donated by local bakeries for the honor of representing the best in Edina. Community members are welcome to register to attend the Cake-Off fundraiser by visiting the Edina Education Fund's website .

Are you looking for a way to talk to your kids about vaping? Health Services has compiled some resources that can hep parents with initiating conversations about vaping.

In the News
Edina Rotary raised $10,000 to teach kids personal safety in an effort to stop human trafficking. The Super Hero Kids curriculum will make its way to EPS classrooms this fall and KARE 11 recently featured a story about the Edina Rotary's eagerness to bring this program to EPS.

City Pages recently released its Twin Cities' most inspiring teens list. EHS senior, Avahnii Lewis, made the list for her design work with various clients throughout the Twin Cities.
