Register to Vote in the 2024 Elections!

The upcoming 2024 elections will be vital in determining the future of public education in Texas. Raises for teachers and increased funding for safety and security failed in the Legislature last year, and the battle over school vouchers is expected to continue.

Making a difference starts with voting, so be sure to register to vote in the March 5 primary! In Texas, primary elections usually determine who represents us in Austin. There are contested races on the ballot representing the Sherman area in both the Texas House and Senate.

Get informed about the candidates and make a plan to vote! The deadline to register is February 5, and early voting starts February 20. In Texas, anyone can vote in either the Democrat or Republican primary regardless of how you have voted in the past, or how you intend to vote in November’s general election.

Grayson County residents should look for sample ballots and polling locations and times coming soon to the Grayson County Elections Administration website

Piner Band Director Presents At Premier National Conference

Piner’s own Melinda Najera had a first for Sherman ISD as she was chosen to present a clinic at The Midwest Clinic, an international band and orchestra conference, in Chicago in mid-December. Her presentation, “The Music Teacher’s Guide to Grant Writing” drew a crowd of music educators from all over the world! In her first two years here at Sherman ISD, Najera earned more than $40,000 in grants for instruments and supplies for both Piner and Sherman Middle Schools.

Branding Resources Available For SISD Staff

Ever wonder if you are using the correct district logo or colors? Whether you have the updated SISD letterhead or PowerPoint presentation?

To ensure the Sherman ISD brand is consistent across the district, the Communications Department has made a brand toolkit at www.shermanisd.net/internalresources available to Sherman ISD staff. Inside you’ll find updated campus and district logos, photos taken and used by the Communications team, document templates and more. Templates are also built-in inside Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Forms as well, so be sure to look for them in the template gallery when creating a new document! If you need to double check district colors, you can go to www.shermanisd.net/logos to find color information alongside some of our logos!

Please Keep Your Current Address On File with Sherman ISD

Sherman ISD occasionally utilizes mail to deliver important documents to you, such as W-2s and 1095-A forms. Please be sure to notify Sherman ISD whenever you move.

You can check to make sure your address is up to date by visiting the Frontline Self-Service Center. If you need to make an address change, please download the Change in Personal Information form and return it to Alicia Lopez in Human Resources in person, via interoffice mail or email at alopez@shermanisd.net. All paper W-2 forms for 2023 will be mailed no later than January 31, 2024 to the current mailing address on file with the district.

You can also elect to receive your W-2 only electronically through the Frontline Self-Service Center to help save time and paper.

Did You Know?: Getting A Referral

Can Be Simple!

Your primary care provider gets to know you and your medical history and can take care of a range of chronic issues. However, sometimes a medical issue requires the attention of a specialist, and knowing how your care provider handles referrals is important to your healthcare!

Community Connection: North Texas Youth Connection

Sherman ISD encourages employees to get involved and connected in the community.

North Texas Youth Connection

North Texas Youth Connection serves runaway, homeless, and street youth and their families to stabilize their living situation so that they are safe and well and have the opportunity to develop a safe and healthy lifestyle.

Youth earn “Thumbs Up” points for their school grades, helping fellow youth, following shelter rules, making their beds, etc. Items in the “Thumbs Up” store include snacks, personal hygiene products, snapback caps, games, earbuds, blankets, colognes, jewelry, etc. North Texas Youth Connection is always in need of donations for the “Thumbs Up” store.

Volunteers provide a variety of services in the office and in the shelter directly with the kids. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the North Texas Youth Connection office at (903) 893-4717 or email NTYC1602@gmail.com.
