There are two days left in early voting for the November 7 election! Fourteen constitutional amendments are on the ballot and cover a wide variety of issues, from raising the homestead exemption for homeowners to funding broadband infrastructure. One amendment, Proposition 9, would provide some retired teachers with a cost-of-living adjustment to their monthly pension. You can read more about the amendments here.
Sherman voters are also voting on the renewal of the street sales tax, which funds ongoing street repairs and maintenance. The tax is 1/8 of a cent on purchases, which is about 12-cents for every $100 spent. This allows visitors to Sherman to help pay for the use of city streets. You can find more information here.
Early voting ends on November 3. The Sherman early voting location is at the Election Administration at 115 W. Houston across from the courthouse, and polls are open 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. You can check other poll locations in Grayson County here, and you can see sample ballots here.
On Election Day, polls are open 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
