Educate Yourself on the 2023 Bond Program
The proposed 2023 bond program would fund new school buildings for Crutchfield Elementary and Fairview Elementary as well as a new Early Childhood Center at the current site of Wakefield Elementary. Watch the video to see why the district is looking to rebuild on these sites.

More information about the upcoming election is available at www.shermanisd.net/bond. To participate in the election, you must live in Sherman ISD and be registered to vote no later than April 6. Check your voter registration status at www.votetexas.gov.

  • School district employees are encouraged to share factual information about the bond at any time.
  • Employees are free to get involved in the election and advocate on their own time, using their own resources.
  • Employees cannot use district time or resources to advocate for a particular outcome in the election.

Outstanding Educators, Volunteer Honored
At February Board Meeting
Elementary Teacher of the Month
Our Elementary Teacher of the Month is Melesa Stewart, Pre-K teacher at Fred Douglass Early Childhood Center. Melesa instills a positive attitude with her students and participates weekly in the campus' weekly Professional Learning Community. She is willing to share anything she has with other teachers. Melesa has empowered her teacher’s assistant to be a leader as well, who is capable of handing the class and continuing class if Melesa isn’t present.
Secondary Teacher of the Month
Our Secondary Teacher of the Month is Sarah Mattison, teacher and coach at Sherman Middle School. Mattison has created a positive environment with her students in leadership and guides them on pathways to success. She builds positive relationships with the students in her classroom and those she coaches. She was instrumental during the interim STAAR assessment in the fall. She was quick to check on all new teachers and help make sure all aspects of testing were taken care of.
Employee of the Month
Our Employee of the Month is Leslie Rich, counselor at Dillingham Elementary School. She has brought in volunteer mentors for lunch groups with students and coordinated with high school programs to connect with Dillingham students. She also launched Dillingham’s first garden club. She is always looking for new ideas and ways to provide students with experiences and mentors. Rich serves on the Campus Leadership Team and has been integral in contributing innovative ideas to her team and campus.
Volunteer of the Month
Our Volunteer of the Month is Reid Kirk with Sherman Bearcat Athletics. Kirk is the epitome of what it means to be a Legacy Leader for Sherman ISD. He delivers the athletic program's "2 Words" character development curriculum to our student-athletes at the high school and middle school on a weekly basis. Mr. Kirk helps the athletic program develop the student-athlete beyond the game. His passion for serving our student-athletes is truly remarkable.
Invite Your Friends To The Sherman ISD Job Fair
Do you have friends or family members looking for a new opportunity? Invite them to the Sherman ISD Job Fair on Saturday, March 25 at Sherman High School to become a part of the Bearcat family!

Why join Sherman ISD? More than 90% of employees (that’s you!) reported they “loved” their job in our annual survey, meaning we have a positive working environment and climate for prospective employees. We also offer the highest starting teacher salary in Grayson County, a minimum starting wage of $15/hour and comprehensive benefits package.
Avoid Being Reeled In By Phishing Scams
Email data from our district suggests more than 3,000 phishing emails have been sent to district employees over the last 90 days. Successful phishing attempts may lead to viruses on your devices, and some phishing scams lead to ransomware attacks, which lock district devices and can be very costly to correct.

Bad actors targeting school districts may be looking to gain access to not only employee data but sensitive student data as well. As district employees, it’s our duty to help protect that data.  Phishing emails or texts may pose as a company or person you trust to attempt to elicit important information. As a district, we want to promote proper cybersecurity by providing some tips to identify phishing and to protect yourself:

  • Look at the subject: is someone you ordinarily communicate with or is related to your job responsibilities? Is it sent from a suspicious domain like @microsoft-suport.com? Is it out of character for a sender you may work with?
  • Hover over, but DON’T CLICK, any hyperlinks. Is the link-to website different from the one displayed in the email?
  • Read over the email. Is the email content misspelled or have poor grammar? Is the request to open to an attachment or link odd or illogical?

Remember: there is a Phish Alert in your Outlook email, on both the web browser and desktop application. You can see below for more examples of phishing, which uses social engineering, and how to find the Phish Alert button in the new Outlook desktop app. If you ever fall for a phishing attempt, please reach out to the Technology Help Desk at extension 2031.
