Albanie Knight, Dillingham Elementary School art teacher, was recognized as the October Elementary Teacher of the Month. Knight is a passionate educator that brings her content to life in an engaging and colorful manner, and she takes the time to build a sense of community in her classroom.

Piner Middle School eighth grade science teacher Devin Turk was honored as the October Secondary Teacher of the Month. Turk's approach to students is holistic and relational, while prioritizing rigor and engagement in every lesson. He is a leader in Piner's professional learning communities and has on more than one occasion visited a science PLC for another team to help teachers understand alignment, resources and technology.

Sunni Benavides was honored as the Volunteer of the Month. Benavides is highly involved in the Sory PTA as the organization’s volunteer coordinator. Sunni has a heart for staff and students. At the beginning of the year, Sunni noticed that Sory kindergarten teachers needed extra support with managerial tasks, and she didn’t skip a beat to jump in and support our teachers.

Please help us welcome Meghan Cone to the district’s top communications position.

Cone brings a dozen years of experience in Texas public school communications, including roles in Frisco and Fort Worth ISDs. She also worked for more than five years as a television news reporter, anchor and producer.

Sherman ISD employees had a blast at the “Longevity Party" Nov. 17, celebrating our employees on their 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, and 30th anniversary with Sherman ISD. Thank you to McCownGordon Construction for an amazing BBQ Dinner.

Dates for Retirement: As you are aware, SISD pays you for a portion of unused local leave at retirement. This is in accordance to Board Policy DEC(Local). If a non-contracted employee intends to retire at the end of the semester and desires payment for local sick leave, then he or she must submit a letter of resignation to Human Resources no later than two weeks prior to the last day of the semester. If a retiring SISD employee does not meet this requirement, he or she will not be paid for any local sick leave upon retirement as determined by SISD Board Policy. If you have any questions about this, email Jill O'Neal at joneal@shermanisd.net.
