Nineteen Edina High School (EHS) seniors embarked on a two-week expedition to Fiji this past summer and worked alongside a butterfly scientist to aid in the research of a new swallowtail species.
The first phase of the district’s budget planning process for the 2019-20 school year is in progress as fiscal parameters are established and administrators prepare recommendations for budget adjustments. While the budget is still in development, initial estimates are that more than $2 million in budget adjustments will be needed for the coming academic year.

Katrina Stern is the latest Edina Public Schools teacher to achieve National Board Certification, an advanced credential that indicates teaching excellence. 
Flexible learning spaces at Edina Public Schools have become a popular site for students to extend their learning. South View Middle School has come up with a solution to ensuring the spaces are maintained throughout the day.

Dec. 17 School Board Meeting Preview

The agenda for the Dec. 17 regular meeting of the School Board includes the annual Truth in Taxation Hearing for the Payable 2019 Levy. In addition, the following are some of the items on the agenda for Board action:

  • Payable 2019 final levy certification
  • 2018-19 final budget
  • Long Term Facilities Maintenance budget
  • Secondary budget recommendations
  • Secondary course proposals/changes
  • Personalized learning goals and implementation plan

A complete meeting agenda is posted three days prior to the meeting.
Two meetings in January

The School Board will hold two regular meetings in January:
  • Monday, Jan. 7 p.m., ECC Room 349, is the Board's annual organizational meeting with a brief agenda primarily focused on naming Board officers for the year.
  • Monday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m., ECC Room 349, is the monthly regular meeting.

Q&A Sessions are held as requested. View more information about Q&A sessions and the form to submit questions. Questions must be submitted by 3 p.m. one week prior to each session. Sessions are held at 6:30 p.m., prior to a regular Board meeting.

Forums will explore how students learn

Edina Public Schools is hosting a series of forums related to student learning. These forums are open to parents, students, and educators and will address challenges that can affect learning, including dyslexia. The sessions are free but registration is requested .

Dec. 18: How Stress Affects the Brain in Learning, 6:30-8:30 p.m., South View Auditorium

We all think differently when under stress, but children and adolescents are particularly vulnerable. Find ways they can de-stress.
