Cornelia Elementary School has received Energy Star certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The award recognizes the building’s performance in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency.
Edina homeowners will see a small reduction in the portion of their property tax assigned to the school district following the refinance of a district-issued bond. As part of the process, Moody's again assigned EPS with the highest credit rating available to school districts.
An array of solar panels has been installed on the roof of the Transportation Services facility, and next summer another array will be installed atop Cornelia Elementary. Together, they are expected to produce a savings to the district of approximately $10,000 in electricity in the first year, with savings to grow.
Voting residents of Edina Public Schools elected Julie Greene, Janie Shaw and incumbent Leny Wallen-Friedman to serve on the Edina School Board.
