Latest Headlines
Edina Public Schools is pleased to announce 30 students from Edina High School have been named National Merit Commended Students. They are among the highest scorers, and the top five percent, of students who enter the competition by completing the  PSAT/NMSQT .
Five Edina High School (EHS) students have received academic recognition as part of the College Board’s National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP). These students are among 5,000 Hispanic/Latino students who have achieved exceptional academic standing.
Edina Public Schools is one of 90 districts in the state to receive a school safety grant from the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). The district has been granted $247,000 earmarked for safety improvements at South View Middle School.
This year's TEDxEdina lineup includes a paralympic gold medalist, a sports medicine physician, and two EHS students. Topics include the opiod epidemic, straw bale gardens, dealing with crisis and building community. It will be a day of ideas, connections and curiosity. School Board Update
The preliminary tax levy for 2018 payable 2019 was approved by the Edina School Board at the Sept. 24 meeting. It represents an increase of 3.18 percent over the previous year for district property owners. Statewide, the Minnesota Department of Education estimates levy increases averaging 6.4 percent.
Sept. 24 School Board Meeting Highlights
Other highlights from the Sept. 24 regular meeting of the School Board include:
  • A report from Leah Byrd, early childhood coordinator, and Lisa Hawthorne, early childhood special education coordinator, on the programs and activities of the Early Learning Center
  • Approval of contracts for the Edina Administrative Council, Community Education-Salaried, and Community Education-Hourly
  •  Approval of updates to numerous policies; Policy 538 Student Field Trips and Travel was removed from the approval agenda for further discussion
The next regular meeting of the School Board is Monday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m., ECC Room 349. A complete meeting agenda is posted three days prior to the meeting.
