SNAPSHOT: Earlier this month, Normandale third graders had the opportunity to meet former French figure skater Surya Bonaly, chef Vincent Francoual, and soccer player Ibou Wone during the school's healthy lifestyles event. Students asked questions about health and the panel answered, all in French, of course.

Dr. Randy Smasal, director of teaching and learning, and a panel of Edina Public Schools educators and students, will give a presentation on Personalized Learning in the Classroom on Tuesday, April 2, from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Valley View Auditorium. Register to attend this free event.

 EPS will hold a hiring event on Wednesday, April 10, 2-6 p.m. at the Edina Community Center, Rooms 350 and 351. The district will be hiring for a variety of positions.
Nominations due for Teacher of the Year Award

The Edina Chamber of Commerce welcomes nominations for their annual Teacher of the Year Award. Deadline for nominations is April 16 . Read more about the award and how to nominate your favorite teacher!
 EHS orchestra students will perform at Orchestra Hall on Monday, April 15 after earning two Superior with Distinction ratings at the MNSOTA Middle level Orchestra Festival in Faribault on March 6 .
 EPS elementary schools provided opportunities for students to explore different areas of science, design their own experiments, and showcase their findings. Visit EPS in Focus, the official EPS photo blog, to see some of the experiments.
School Board Update
The next regular meeting of the School Board is Monday, April 15, at 7 p.m., in ECC Room 349.

 A complete meeting agenda is posted three days prior to the meeting. Regular meetings of the School Board are live streamed on the district's YouTube channel. To watch, click on the YouTube icon at the bottom of every district website page, or find the link on the School Board Meetings web page.
Q&A Sessions are held as requested. View more information about Q&A sessions and the form to submit questions. Questions must be submitted by 3 p.m. one week prior to each session. Sessions are held at 6:30 p.m., prior to a regular Board meeting.

Did You Know?
France Avenue bridge construction about to begin

MnDOT is about to begin a project to replace the France Avenue bridge over Highway 62 that is expected to last until mid-July. District Transportation Services reports that the resulting bridge and ramp closures will have little effect on bus routes and that parents would be notified if there are any changes. Check the MnDOT project web page for more information about dates of closures and detours.
Edina Grows Readers
EPS announces the launch of a home and school reading campaign called “Edina Grows Readers." The goals are to cultivate the love of reading together and increase the volume of reading students do outside of school in partnership with families.
