Pro Bono Week 2014, which took place October 19 - 25, is a global campaign that celebrates and activates pro bono service across all professions that use their talents to make a difference. This year, over 400 nonprofits, 500 consultants and 100 corporate partners and pro bono providers hosted or participated in events that celebrated pro bono, including an event on Pro Bono+Boards in Chicago run by Taproot's new Chicago Executive Director Jaime Guzman, a full day of events as part of Pro Bono Day NYC, and many other exciting activities. Below see three of the many highlights from this exciting week!

HIGHLIGHT 1: CAPITAL ONE NYC SCOPEATHON -DIGITAL INNOVATION FOR GOOD

As a local bank, Capital One is committed to expanding economic opportunities for individuals, families, and small business owners in New York. During Pro Bono Week, Capital One teamed up with the Taproot Foundation in New York City to host the first ScopeAthon specifically focused on digital innovation.

HIGHLIGHT 2: SCOPEATHON OUTCOMES FROM THE NONPROFIT PERSPECTIVE

Guest Bloggers Wendy Dixon-DuBois and Stephanie Amponsah of Urban Alliance share their thoughts after participating in a Pro Bono Week ScopeAthon with Capital One  in DC.

After participating in a ScopeAthon with Taproot and Capital One during Pro Bono Week 2014, it became apparent how beneficial pro bono service can be. Yes, sometimes we walk away with a new and innovative product or process. Other times it's the energy and motivation we gain, the reassurance that we are doing great work and we are capable of accomplishing even more.

HIGHLIGHT 3: "BRIDGING THE LEADERSHIP GAP" EVENT AT CEB

It's widely recognized that the demands placed on corporate leaders are changing. Today's leadership demands a new level of agility and adapting to a broader set of responsibilities. Pro bono service has emerged as a highly-effective approach to developing leaders in today's unique landscape.

During Pro Bono Week, Taproot Foundation and CEB joined forces in Washington, DC to present new research and lessons on this topic through the event "Bridging the Leadership Gap in the New Work Environment".
