The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) would like to inform liquor licensees that Regulation 746/21 under the Liquor Licence and Control Act, 2019 contains new tax compliance verification requirements. Effective July 1, 2023, new applicants and existing licensees applying for, or renewing an AGCO liquor licence (excluding Special Occasion Permits) must complete the tax compliance verification process and obtain their tax compliance verification number through the Ministry of Finance’s Tax Compliance Verification portal. Employment Standards Self-Service Tool was updated to include additional standards and combine pre-existing stand-alone tools into a single tool.  The tool is designed to assess common employment situations. Users will be able to select the standard(s) they are interested in testing. They are then guided through the process and prompted to enter information depending on the individual circumstances. Read more.

Ontario isn't the only province initiating wage hikes. Quebec’s minimum wage will rise by one dollar to $15.25 as of Monday. The Quebec government says it is trying to improve the purchasing power of low-income earners and encourage participation in the labour market. The province’s labour department says nearly 299,000 workers will benefit from the increase, including more than 164,000 women. Read more.
