9/11 SKILLS SERVICE DAY

9/11 Day is the largest day of charitable engagement in the United States and in recent years has been officially designated a National Day of Service. It's a day for individuals and organizations to pay tribute to the 9/11 victims by doing something positive and serving others in their honor on this day. Thanks to support from American Express, this year Taproot Foundation engaged 150 business professionals in five Pro Bono Speed Consulting events around the country, making a meaningful impact on 75 nonprofit organizations.

This year, Taproot is highlighting the creative and innovative ways that pro bono service powers collaboration that builds new communities. Pro Bono Week is made possible through the generous support of Deloitte as well as ConAgra Foods Foundation, Walmart, Prudential and JPMorgan Chase.

Q&A WITH A CORPORATE PRO BONO CONSULTANT
Blue Shield of California recently piloted a pro bono program with the Taproot Foundation. Over the summer, Blue Shield employees engaged in team-based, eight-week projects to address critical capacity challenges with two partner domestic violence agencies. In addition to the positive impact made on the nonprofits, the employee participants took a lot away from the experience. But don't take our word for it: check out a case study from Bert Guzenski, a Blue Shield employee, who provides his perspective about what the project accomplished, its challenges, and his learning.
MACQUARIE PRO BONO PROGRAM TAPS FINANCE PROFESSIONS FOR COMMUNITY IMPACT
This summer, Macquarie, in partnership with the Taproot Foundation, provided capacity-building support to three New York based nonprofits through pro bono service. The eight-week program, named "Community Impact", connected teams of financial management professionals to Macquarie Group Foundation grantees.
