Greetings!
Happy first day of Spring!

Last week was National Groundwater Awareness Week (GWAW).

GWAW draws attention to the importance of groundwater across the country, including agriculture and its many uses in everyday life.
Did you know:
  • The U.S. uses 349 billion gallons of freshwater everyday
  • Only 1% of the world's water is fresh, and 99% of all freshwater is groundwater
  • Groundwater is 20 to 30 times larger than all U.S. lakes, rivers, and streams combined
  • More than 13.2 million households have their own well, representing 34 million people.

Check out our Facebook page for more information on groundwater and resources for testing it.
Enjoy the nice weather,
Katie Vennie
Program Coordinator
P.S. Would you like to know more about groundwater? Or how about trends with snowpack and runoff? The Water Forum will host 1-2 public educational forums in late spring. Tell us about the topics YOU would like to learn more about.
