To all our wonderful Music Together families in our Winter session.
It is with a very heavy heart that I have decided that for the protection of the health and well-being of our families, teachers, and the greater community,
we must suspend our Music Together classes for the remainder of the Winter session, effective immediately.
This is a painful decision because I know how much our families value their time in our classes, and their connection to their teachers and their Music Together friends. Especially at times of stress and uncertainty our classes provide a much-needed refuge of positivity, connection and fun. I remember as a teacher and a parent how grateful I was to be in Music Together classes after 9/11, the death of my mom, and Superstorm Sandy.
However, given the fast-moving developments of the last weeks, here and abroad, I feel it would be irresponsible to our families and the Brooklyn community to continue our classes at this time.
Our Winter families will be able to roll over their last two weeks of classes into the Spring semester. We do want you to get your full 11 classes.
Our Spring semester is scheduled to start on April 5. We hope to be able to start that session on time, or with a delay of a week or two, depending on how the public health situation develops. We will be sending out information soon about registration for Spring semester, and how we plan to deal with the uncertainty around the start date.
In the meantime .... We plan to offer Music Together activities online to our Winter families -- keeping the fun and music going at home until we are able to resume our regular classes. We will likely have daily Facebook Live streaming activities led by your favorite teachers. We will be organizing those over the next few days and will send you more information soon. Remember, Music Together has always been designed to happen all week long at home!
Please stay safe and healthy and wash those hands!
And most of all, keep singing and dancing. It's fun, uplifting, and boosts your immune system!
With gratitude for your understanding and support at this difficult time,
