National Writing Honors

Congratulations to NHS senior Maggie Hoppel on being named a national Scholastic gold medalist in writing. Hoppel beat out over 300,000 students to be one of only eight gold medalists in the United States and will be honored with a reception at Carnegie Hall and a $12,500 scholarship. Her writing will also appear in a national anthology this summer. Congratulations also to NHS students Addison Cooley, Krista Horbett, Levi Miller and Kaelyn Hart, and NWMS student Bridget Ballard, who brought home state Scholastic writing honors.

Spotlight –

White River Elementary

White River Elementary staff presented at the April board meeting about how they are using Noblesville Schools’ Going Places motto as an inspiration to visit students in their neighborhoods, welcome new families, host parent workshops, and strengthen their connections with the community.

Your Noblesville Schools Board of Trustees

The school board has responsibility for major district functions including school district governance and oversight, setting school policies, approving funding, strategic planning, and hiring and evaluating the superintendent.

April 18, 2023 Board Meeting Highlights

  • A project hearing for the NHS STEM/performing arts expansion was held, with the board approving the needed resolutions to continue moving the project forward.
  • Dozens of NHS and NWMS students were recognized for outstanding achievements in writing, basketball, swimming and diving, and wrestling.
  • A new math curriculum was adopted for K-8 students based on recommendations from a comprehensive two-year study committee. The process included reviewing instructional practices, studying academic research, analyzing student data, and seeking input from educators and parents. Next steps will include professional development for teachers and support for families.

Visit the school board area of our website for meeting agendas, minutes, videos and more.

Promise Road Elementary Expansion

Growth in the City of Noblesville doesn’t always equate to more students for Noblesville Schools.

The district uses professional demographic reporting to carefully study and estimate future enrollment. Promise Road Elementary in the southeastern corner of the district has seen rapid and sustained growth and an expansion of classroom space was identified as a need.

Expansions to existing schools are a cost-effective tool the district uses to address rising enrollment, rather than building entirely new schools that won't be needed in future years.

Construction of the Promise Road addition is in process now and will add four new classrooms. The project will be complete for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.

New Principal

In other Promise Road Elementary news, we're excited to welcome new Promise Road principal Mrs.Tonya Moody! Mrs. Moody joins us from her current position as assistant principal with Avon Schools and was previously a teacher at Noble Crossing Elementary.

Congratulations to NHS Biomedical Innovations students on their recent presentation at the Indiana Academy of Science conference. The only high school students chosen to present at the prestigious event for science professionals, their research focused on using microbial materials on high touch surfaces to reduce the spread of infectious diseases. Their conference fees were funded thanks to a grant from the Noblesville Schools Education Foundation.
