Supporting Students
Sustaining Excellence
Did you know...?
-
Did you know that special education buses are stored in heated garage stalls? Some students with special needs are sensitive to temperature extremes. Heated parking also helps ensure that wheelchair lifts function properly. The Bond Issue will provide an expansion to the bus garage that would accommodate additions to the fleet so the district can provide all special education transportation without having to contract with outside providers.
-
Did you know that more than half of the dollars generated by the Technology Levy fund job positions throughout the district? There are 37 full time employees, in 7 different job positions, whose salaries are wholly paid for by the Technology Levy, and 70 employees, in 14 different job positions, have part of their salaries covered by the levy.

News from Health Services

|
Families should continue to complete the COVID reporting form when a student tests positive for COVID or must miss school because of COVID-like symptoms -- this includes families with students in EVA or distance learning. Please complete the entire form as the information is used for contact tracing and helps health staff to prioritize phone calls.
If someone has completed their COVID-19 vaccination series and is exposed they do not need to quarantine if ALL the following are true:
- The COVID-19 exposure was at least 14 days after their vaccination series was fully completed.
- They do not currently have any symptoms of COVID-19.
This includes staff and students. Be sure to notify your school Health Office with your students vaccination dates if they have received a COVID-19 vaccine.
Observe Ramadan safely
This year, Ramadan may begin on April 13 and end on May 13. It is marked by social and religious gatherings, during which Muslim families and friends unite to break their fast together. Many Muslims increase their attendance at mosques during the month and congregate for longer prayers, especially at night.
Muslim faith leaders and Imams across Minnesota collaborated with the Minnesota Department of Health to discuss the requirements all Minnesotans must follow at this time and developed additional recommendations for observing Ramadan safely this year:

Board resumes in-person meetings with COVID protocols
Beginning April 12, 2021, the Edina School Board will conduct its regular meetings in the remodeled Edina School Board Room, located on the third floor of the Edina Community Center (ECC). As we remain in the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be adhering to the following mitigation practices during Edina School Board meetings:
- Masks must be worn in the ECC.
- Public seating will be limited to 16 audience members in the Board Room. All individuals attending will be asked to maintain a 6-foot social distance with others attending the meeting.
- A limited number of district administrators will attend in-person in order to maintain 6 feet of social distance. Others will attend virtually.
- For public testimony, a microphone will be provided and cleaned after each use.
- Hand sanitizer will be made available outside the Board Room.
Due to space and capacity limitations, there is not room to accommodate public audience members at Work Sessions, which are held in Room 350. Work Sessions will continue to be audio-streamed on the district’s YouTube channel.
Regular meetings will continue to be live-streamed and recorded for availability on the district’s YouTube channel. To continue to reduce the risk of spreading the virus, the public is encouraged to view meetings virtually and provide public comment via email.
