What does it mean to be deeply committed Christians, growing in faith every day? How do we become fully engaged and flourishing in the Christian life? For the next five weeks (January 30 - February 27), we will explore a model for Christian discipleship, built around five essential practices-- practices that we engage in both collectively and individually in order to more fully follow Jesus. Join us as together we worship, grow, serve, give, and share--closing the spiritual gap in our lives.
This week we explore the practice of serving. Several words are used throughout the Bible to describe acts of service and serving. . Several scriptures remind us that we are servants of God. As Joshua nears the end of his life, he challenges his fellow Israelites to decide whom they will serve. In life, it is not a question of whether you will serve, because everyone does serve something or someone. You will exchange your life in service of whatever priority or God you give your loyalty and allegiance to. The only choice you have is who or what you pick as deserving it.
As we look closer into service, we will be challenged to share at least 5 acts of kindness in a week. Imagine how the world would react if everyone at Prairie Avenue was doing 5 kind things each week!
Attend Worship Online: Pastor Jason has encouraged an "A grade" of 90% worship attendance (missing less the 5 Sundays in a year). You can keep up your attendance by joining worship online through our Facebook premiere or our worship online page on the website. Join us in person or online... it will count!

The Dover Elevator (1993-2021) is out of service. An estimate for motherboard replacement is about $5,000. Bodine Electric has been here to assess and estimate the necessary electric service work completed to upgrade/modernize the elevator. The trustees already have provided funds for the modernization project. Those with limited mobility are encouraged to connect to worship online. |

CHURCH ACTIVITIES: We are monitoring the county situation involving the surge of COVID-19 cases. At this time, we will continue to have in-person as well as online worship. Prairie Avenue Christian Church will abide by State of Illinois law, which currently has a mandatory indoor mask mandate. Masks are encouraged, especially in situations where social distancing is not possible.
COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES: The Dove, Inc. Children's Clothing Room is CLOSED until further notice. Limited community activity is permitted, with COVID-19 guidelines required.

Week of Compassion is the relief, refugee, and development mission fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
