Monday Matinee: Harriet

Monday, March 2nd from 2:30-4:45pm


This biographical drama covers Harriet Tubman's escape from slavery and transformation into one of America's greatest heroines as one of the instrumental "conductors" of the Underground Railroad, a clandestine network of safe houses and secret routes that assisted "passengers" fleeing slavery in dodging both their captors and the slavecatchers seeking to recapture them and traffic them back into slavery. Tubman's cleverness, courage, ingenuity and tenacity freed hundreds of slaves and changed the course of American history. Rated PG-13. Snacks included.

Group Reiki

Tuesday, March 3rd from 5:30-7:00pm


Join Sherry Kowalski to experience reiki. Reiki is an energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety. Reiki will be given in a group setting, starting with a guided meditation. Please feel free to bring a yoga mat and pillow. Please arrive on time for this program. To avoid disrupting participants, anyone that arrives after the guided meditation has started will not be able to join the session. Registration required.

Sit & Stitch

Bring a project to work on and make some new friends. Sit & Stitch is a casual crochet, knitting, and fiber arts group that meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. All skill levels are welcome. This is not a class, but a group for crafters to socialize and swap skills.

ATTAIN (Advanced Technology Training And Information Network) Labs are community-based technology centers that provide free digital literacy, workforce readiness, and career advancement training. They offer self-paced courses in computer basics, Microsoft Office, job search skills, and industry certifications to help individuals gain the skills needed for employment or career growth.

Monthly Munchkin Meetup

Join us for a rousing round of Munchkin, a player-versus-player board game inspired by Dungeons and Dragons and various fantasy tropes. Become an adventurer. Enter the creepy dungeon. Kick in the door. Form temporary alliances to defeat attacking monsters. Gather equipment, potions, and magic items. TTRPG Mini Painting

Unleash your inner artist and bring your tabletop worlds to life at Mini Painting! Whether you're a seasoned painter or have never picked up a brush, our program is a welcoming space to relax and get creative. Drop in anytime between 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM to paint up to two miniatures. All supplies are provided but feel free to bring your own to use! Embroidery 101 with B. C. Stitchers

Are you interested in learning basic embroidery? The B.C. Stitchers can help! In this Embroidery 101 workshop each participant will receive a free kit with all the necessities and a handout of hints and tips. You will learn basic skills like how to:

·        Thread a needle and use a needle threader

·        Pick out floss and fabric

·        Use an embroidery hoop

·        Find patterns to stitch

·        Master popular embroidery stitches like back stitch, stem stitch, straight stitch, rice stitch, lazy daisy and even French Knot! Registration is required.

LVBTC Basic Computer Classes

Wednesdays from 10:00am-12:00pm


This is a computer basics course offered by the Literacy Volunteers of Broome and Tioga Counties. Classes are intended for individuals with little or no computer experience. Lessons are customized to each group of 5 or less students. Topics covered within these classes may include:


  • Basic computer equipment, vocabulary, and usage
  • Windows desktop and files
  • Internet usage
  • Email accounts
  • Microsoft Office and Google Docs
  • Online tasks like signing up for accounts or submitting applications

Gentle Yoga

Wednesdays from 4:15-5:00pm


This is a class designed for people who are new to yoga or people with an impairment or limitation due to injury, surgery, or an ongoing condition affecting mobility, balance, flexibility, or strength. A typical class includes standing postures for stretching, flexibility and balance, as well as sitting postures on a chair for stretching, flexibility and strength. No previous experience necessary. Classes are funded by The Friends of Broome County Public Library. You will need to fill out a waiver form before you can participate in the class.


Beginner/Advanced Beginner Yoga

Wednesdays from 5:15-6:15pm


The group is open to anyone who enjoys coloring for relaxation or creative expression. The library will provide coloring books, coloring pages, pencils, and crayons for the meeting. You may bring your own as well. This program is for adults aged 18 or older.

Thursdays from 2:00-3:00pm


Do you have a basic question about your phone, tablet, or laptop? Register for a 20-minute one-on-one tech help session with a library staff member. Library staff members can answer a basic question about using library e-resources, apps, or getting to know your device.
