Happy spring, everyone!

It’s been quite a winter, and I think we’re all ready for a fresh season and the opportunities that come with it. In the spirit of spring cleaning — and after April 15, of course — this is a great time to consider a refresh of your book of business.

Every advisory practice has a mix of A, B, and C tier clients. Take a moment to ask yourself:

  • Are your top clients clearly defined?
  • Are your service levels aligned with revenue?
  • Do any households receive A-level service at C-level revenue?
  • Are there relationships that should be upgraded, systematized, or transitioned?

Clear segmentation protects your time, improves profitability, and creates capacity for growth.

Beyond ranking accounts by assets, client segmentation also evaluates revenue contribution, service needs, complexity and long-term value so that you can group households into defined service tiers.

If you’re not sure where to start, the AdviceWorks Reporting & Analytics Dashboard provides excellent data to help you evaluate your book. Our Prosperity data team can also run additional practice analysis reports for you. In addition, many advisors with production over $500k have had great success working with Amanda Jarvis at Cetera on client segmentation strategies.

We’re here to support you — just let us know how we can help. As they say, the hardest part is getting started.

Wishing you a strong and productive spring,

Angela
